“StairMaster Team” Info

Get fresh air and exercise putting flyers on doors. Feel good about your workout as you help inform voters about the change we need at City Hall.

You won’t knock on doors or talk to strangers. Climb the stairs and leave a flyer on the door while listening to music or a podcast.

Every weekend, we cover a new neighborhood. You can also do your own route anytime during the week. We will provide the flyers and a map. You provide the foot power.

The StairMaster Team gets our message into the hands of voters while saving expensive mailing costs. You are the superheroes of the campaign!

StairMaster Team.

No stairs! Some neighborhoods are majority “tunnel entrance” homes without stairs to climb.

StairMaster Tips

  • Wear a hat and sunscreen. Even on cloudy days the sun burns through!

  • Wear comfy walking or running shoes.

  • Workout clothes recommended, especially material that can whisk sweat.

  • Wear layers. The Sunset can be cold and foggy in the morning, but you will warm up after a few doors and the sun will eventually come out.

  • Bring a bottle of water. The stairs are a workout.

  • Bring a bag with shoulder strap to hold your flyers.

  • Many like to listen to music or podcasts with earphones while they climb stairs.

  • If you feel tired, stop and rest. This isn't a race and there is nothing to prove. Do whatever you can comfortably do. If you can't finish your map, no problem. Just let us know what remains to be done and we’ll finish it for you.

Best Practices

  • Flyers can't go in or near mailboxes! This is illegal.

  • Do not put flyers on the porch steps or under door mats. They will blow away or not be noticed.

  • Put the flyer on the door itself, either on the door handle or in the door crack.

  • If there is an apartment building or duplex with one gate for all units, put just one flyer on the gate.

  • What if there is a “no soliciting” sign? You can still leave a flyer because we aren't knocking on the door and we aren't selling anything. Sometimes those signs (especially the old ones embedded in the stairs) are from decades ago when door to door peddlers were common.

  • You won’t knock on doors. Just place the flyer. If a resident asks about the campaign, say you’re helping bring common sense to City Hall and hope they vote for Joel. Refer them to the website and email address on the flyer and let them know Joel will answer their questions directly.

Door Styles:
Where to Put Flyers

NOT THIS: Avoid door mats

YES: We love door handles!

Door gates are easy!

Fold and wedge the flyer here if the gate doesn’t have any openings.

Door gates are easy!

No handle? No gate? Try the weather strip!

Flyer won’t fit in a handle that’s too close to the edge? Roll and cradle the flyer between door jam and handle.

Just a door knob with no handle or weather strip to put the flyer? Roll and cradle the flyer between the door knob and door jamb.
