Sunset native Howard Tong helps victims of wildfires and floods in California, tornadoes in the Midwest, and war in Ukraine. He is a longtime volunteer for Tzu Chi, a global charity founded by a Buddhist nun in Taiwan. Tzu Chi’s San Francisco location is in the Sunset and Howard is one of its leaders. “I wanted to do something more purposeful in my life,” he says.
